Setup Method
Creating an asymmetrical Dutch braided crown provides a strong diagonal directional line that guides the eye toward a side-set ponytail. Start by isolating a thick section of hair starting from the left temple, weaving it into a Dutch braid—crossing strands under rather than over—along the hairline toward the right ear. Continue braiding along the curve of the scalp, gathering hair from the top and bottom until you reach behind the right ear. Combine the braided tail with the remaining loose hair on the right side of the head, securing everything into a low side ponytail using a fabric-covered band. Gently pancake the outer loops of the Dutch braid by pulling the edges outward, broadening the braid width to create a soft, dimensional contrast against the sleek side base.
