Suspending paper bats from clear monofilament line produces a true floating effect that hovers slightly off wall surfaces and overhead ceiling beams. Cut thirty lightweight paper bats from thin black craft sheet material, punching a microscopic hole through the center crease of each torso. Thread varying lengths of transparent nylon fishing line through the holes, securing the underside with a tiny knot or small piece of clear tape. Tie the upper ends of the lines to a thin black metal wall rod or clear ceiling hooks spaced along a foyer entry wall. Stagger the drop lengths between six and twenty-four inches, allowing the bats to float and turn freely with natural household air currents, casting dynamic moving shadows across adjacent walls.
