Suspending a lightweight rattan egg chair inside a cleared walk-in closet creates a unique, floating seating experience that makes small nooks feel spacious. Ensure the ceiling joist above the closet center is structurally sound, drilling a heavy-duty eye bolt anchor securely into the center of the solid wood beam. Hang a compact rattan or woven swing chair from the anchor using a high-tensile steel chain or thick rope, adjusting the height so it hovers slightly above the floor. Line the surrounding back and side walls with low-profile wooden bookcases that keep books within arm’s reach from the floating chair. Layer the inside of the swing chair with a faux-sheepskin rug and a soft linen cushion.
