Archway Framed Nook with Integrated Overhead Canopy

Setup Method

Constructing a curved archway facade across the front of a window recess transforms an ordinary window seat into a cozy, semi-private architectural sanctuary. Measure the outer opening of the window alcove and cut two curved arch corner pieces from smooth plywood, securing them to the upper ceiling and side wall framing. Line the interior walls of the alcove with vertical tongue-and-groove wooden beadboard panels painted a soft sage green or pale blue. Build a stationary wooden bench seat across the window base, adding open cubby slots underneath for woven storage baskets. Mount a warm LED light strip behind the top rim of the plywood archway to cast a soft indirect ambient glow over the seating area. Top the bench with a plush velvet seat cushion, completing an inviting, secluded reading retreat that adds distinct architectural character to your bedroom.
