Assembling a webbed cheesecloth mummy lantern offers a playful, highly textured accent piece that appeals to family-friendly decorating themes. Cut long, one-inch wide strips of unbleached cotton cheesecloth or loose surgical gauze, intentionally pulling at the woven threads to create frayed, distressed edges. Apply small dots of clear craft adhesive at various points around the mason jar exterior to anchor the fabric strips in place. Wrap the gauze bands horizontally around the entire glass jar, overlapping the layers at slight angles while leaving small gaps of exposed glass between the wraps.
